Earlier known as Awadh, Lucknow is famous for royalty, food, and exility. But another important thing which shows it’s culture is it’s temples, come with us to look through the alluring history of these legendary & beautiful temples which are must-visit.

  • Sankat Mochan Hanuman Setu Dedicated to Lord Hanuman, Sankat Mochan Hanuman Setu is situated near the Gomti bridge, built by Baba Neeb Karauri in the 19th century. It is one of the most respected temples across India. Thousands of devotees come here every year to offer prayer and take part in the puja. To reach there, you don’t need to give any details, just take any local vehicle and ask them for Sankat Mochan Hanuman Setu, they will drop you without much difficulty.

Timings: 4:00 am – 12:00 pm & 4:00 pm – 00:00 am

  • Mankameshwar – Mankameshwar is one of the most famous and a 1000 years old temple of Lord Shiva in India. It’s believed that prayers offered in Mankameshwar temple never go unheard, this is why its name is Manokamna/Mankam which means desire or a wish. It is one of the significant points of attraction for many devotees. The aarti is just mesmerizing where sounds of nagadas and bells will continuously chant till aarti get’s completed. The best time to visit is the evening between 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm when aarti will happen.

  • Neemsaran or Naimisaranyam – Nimkhar or Nimsar is a famous temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu in Lucknow. It is one of the Divya Desams and counted as one of the eight temples of Lord Vishnu that are self-manifested and are classified as Swayamvyaktha Kshetra. Chankra Kunda, the holy tank, is believed to be the center of the earth and every devotee takes a holy dip during festive occasions.

Timings: 6:00 am -6:00 pm

  • Chandrika Devi – Counted as one of the oldest temples, almost 300 years old, in India, Chandrika Devi built around the 15th century in Ayodhya by a saint. It is at a distance of 50-55 km from main Lucknow.

Timings – 5:00 am – 1:00 pm & 2:00 pm – 11:00 pm

  • Sheetla Devi – Sheetla Devi Mandir is situated near Rajajipuram in Lucknow and one of the admired worship places in Lucknow. Its history states that it was destroyed by some invaders but now it is re-constructed in a large areas which allows thousands of devotees to offer prayer in the temple.

Timings: 06:00 am to 08:00 pm (All days of the week)
